The school board will be having a “work session” at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 at the Educational Services Center, 1725 North Dodge Street, Iowa City, to discuss (but not vote on) the facilities proposals, including possible school closures. The public can attend, but there will be no opportunity for public comment. I know that several Hoover supporters will be there, partly just out of curiosity, and partly to have a visible presence.
The board will then meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, also at 1725 North Dodge, and could vote on the proposals that night. There will be an opportunity for public comment that meeting.
If you haven’t already contacted the board to express your feelings about the possible Hoover closure, the sooner you do, the better. (You can email all the board members at board@iccsd.k12.ia.us .)
Thanks to everyone who has already contacted the board, and to everyone who has volunteered to distribute leaflets, put up yard signs, phone their friends and neighbors, and contribute. We can barely keep up with the response. We may print some more yard signs, so please let me know if you’d like one or if you’d like to contribute toward the printing.
